Story Sent in by Debra:
In his profile, Clyde insisted that he was descended from royalty although he was vague on details. On our dinner date he said that he was the direct descendant of Alfonso VII of the House of Burgundy. Then he asked for my royal pedigree.
I told him that I probably wasn't descended from any royalty at all.
He asked me if I was kidding and I told him I wasn't.
He said, "Then we have nothing more to discuss," then wiped his mouth with his napkin and left me sitting there, alone.

That date is what I call a royal flush.
ReplyDeleteLol, I love it!
DeleteLittle did he know, OP was the descendant of a billionaire who just happened to not be royalty. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteClyde's response to OP posting this story....
ReplyDeleteI'm Ron Burgundy?
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Just Googled Alfonso VII. Born 1105, died 1157... Same as Charlemagne, after 800 and odd years, probably everyone with European ancestry is a descendant of the guy!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of anyone faking pretentious snob routine to end a bad date.
ReplyDelete"I'm kind of a big deal. My apartment smells of rich mahogany..."
