(Jason says: "In November, I received emails from three different women over a dating website, asking me about 'skulls.' They've since stopped contacting me. I had no idea what they were talking about, but here is the most colorful of my interactions with them.")

Jason Responds:
Hi Sasha. I don't know what you're talking about. The only skull I have is my own. Would you mind telling me what the "code" is that you found in my profile? I'd like to fix it so that it's not misleading to people who are looking for whatever skulls are.

"with meat or without."
ReplyDeleteHuh.
well... this is a new one on me. I don't know what to say.
ReplyDeleteThis one is really fascinating. Why not call the numbers in the 3rd message and see what's up?
ReplyDeleteSOMEONE has to know what this is about, right? i'm quite curious.
ReplyDeleteThose are Chicago numbers (according to the area code)although the rest of the number is fake obviously.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a story a while back about a guy who collected skulls and had a room full of them?
ReplyDeleteAh, found it: Guys and Their Hobbies
ReplyDeleteTry looking up "skulls" on urbandictionary.com there are some interesting possibilities.
ReplyDeleteThe meat comment has put me off wanting to know what this is about.
ReplyDeleteA Bad Case of the Dismemberments!
ReplyDeleteThe meat comment made me think she was literally talking about skulls (like, say, cow skulls from a butcher). But, I can't imagine WHY.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious now. I'd have probably kept it going just for sheer amusement value. :)
Maybe this? It's from 2007, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pszJiPdk5gg
Way to bring the freak, Chicago....always proud to call you home :-\
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that comes to mind is, "WTF?!?!"
ReplyDeleteGreat, now I'll have that Misfits song stuck in my head all day.
ReplyDeleteThe way she's talking, the words 'using' and such, makes me think it's a drug of some sort.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but she makes such a point about it being legal, why is it so hard to buy that you need a code?
ReplyDeleteI think there are some animals that are a legal grey area, though: if something like a mountain lion dies on your property you can stuff it or whatever, but you can't hunt them. So it might be actual skulls.
But yeah, the "using" doesn't quite fit there either. It's a real mystery.
The phrasing is pretty weird for it to be about drug related stuff - I have the uncomfortable feeling that it may have been about some form of actual skull.
ReplyDeletebtw Andrew - you can actually hunt mountain lions in most places in the US that have 'em.
